According to a recent story on NBC's Dateline, a number of lucky Mississippi residents were recently given back their abandoned assets and it turned out that it was a pleasant shock for most of them. A Biloxi, MS resident found out he had $30,000 from an investment his father had forgotten to tell him about before he passed away. A couple who had lost everything to the recent hurricane received $250,000 from MS unclaimed funds. Another lady who was attempting to rebuild homes for her mother and herself received $100 thousand. Gordon White, was in the middle of building his dream home when Katrina hit and he had to live in a trailer, but then got $200 thousand from bank stock shares his father had never told him about. One of the largest claims given out yet was to a Vietnam vet who had been forced to retire from his job as a company supervisor because of post-traumatic stress. Turns out that he was owed almost a million dollars from old company stocks he had forgotten about when he retired from said company.
